Applications of value engineering on yacht designs-Using Fuzzy Synthesis Assessment to evaluate the design plans of the yachts / 價值工程在遊艇設計上的應用-以模糊綜合評判評選遊艇設計方案

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 系統工程暨造船學系 / 95 / In the past, small yachts made in Taiwan occupied an important position in the world. Recently, the shipbuilding industry in Asia has grown fast and domestic economic factors have made the competitiveness of the market in Taiwan decline gradually. For building custom-made luxurious yachts, because the shipbuilding industry in Taiwan owns the exquisite woodworking and the ability of yacht designs, they bring business opportunities again. Design processes of yachts are complicated and need to consider a lot of factors. Therefore, this study employs the analysis method of value engineering (VE) and applies five-step job plan that contains the information gating phase, the creative phase, the evaluation phase, the presentation phase and the implementation phase. This study builds the procedure which uses the concept of VE to assist the yacht design process and propose fuzzy comprehensive assessment to evaluate the plans. The theory of evaluation adopts the fuzzy comprehensive assessment that can estimate quantifiable and qualitative indices and increase the credibility of the best substitute plan. In addition to consider the price, we also take into account requirements of customers, feelings and variables of the beauty as the development of design. This study shows that the combination of real yacht design plans and VE, processes of yacht designs. Moreover, we obtain the excellent sort of each case as the reference of yacht designs. From the analyses of cases, in addition to the price, different appearances of ship models can also affect final sorting. On the other hand, the operation rule of fuzzy comprehensive assessment makes different sorting results. The matrix operation is suitable for evaluating the yacht design plans. Therefore, VE can be used to investigate preliminary evaluation of the yacht designs and can help yacht designers fit in with the shipowner’s demand and have high acceptable value.
