Reproductive biology of yellow seabream, Dentex tumifrons off northeastern Taiwan / 台灣東北部海域赤鯮生殖生物學之研究

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 環境生物與漁業科學學系 / 95 / Abstract
In order to realize the reproductive features of yellow seabream (Dentex tumifrons) in the northeastern waters of Taiwan. A total of 1,372 specimens were sampled from Jinshan, Rueifang and Dasi fish market between August 2005 and August 2006. The relationship between fork length (mm) and body weight (g) showed that the Dentex tumifrons were insignificant difference between males and females in this study. The reproductive features indicated that Dentex tumifrons had sex reversal, and the variations of monthly gonadosomtic index (GSI) showed that it had highest GSI values on May and October. Furthermore, the oocyte development could divide into immature stage、early maturing stage、late maturing stage、matured stage and atretic stage 5 stages, by the histological examination and ovarian development measurements. We also found that the ovaries were in the undeveloped stage when the GSI was less than 0.9, and the GIS higher than 3.5 was in mature stage.
Average length at maturity was estimated to be 148mm FL and 162mm FL for females and males, respectively based on the relationship between proportion of maturity and fork length. Batch fecundity 50151~80531.
