Abstract
Under the new tendency of international finance and impact after severe competition after China joining World Trade Organization (WTO), the life insurance market in China has been transformed from completely closed market to one open to competition.
This study adopt method of case study, target with a life insurance company named AEGON-CNOOC which has high level management team from TAIWAN. Through the secondary data search and in-depth interview, we tried to find out the determinants of Taiwan life insurance company entering China model. We analyzed the factors of environment, strategies, organization construction, and performance, then generalized the key success factors (KSF).
The object of this paper, based on the theory of “Five Forces Analysis” by Michael E. Porter, PEST model and SWOT tool, is to analyze the structure, performance and competition strategy of the AEGON-CNOOC. we aslo want to sum up the succeed experience of AEGON-CNOOC.
The empirical results show that the succeed performance of AEGON-CNOOC was based on the management team, strategy, operating and corporate culture. The members of management team from Taiwan and Hong Kong, bringing mature experience, helped AEGON-CNOOC make rapid progress. Exact position, multi-market channel and the capability of developing new products, helped AEGON-CNOOC became TOP EIGHT only in four years in all the China’s joint-venture life insurance company.
