碩士 / 國立雲林科技大學 / 資訊管理系碩士班 / 95 / The quality of information flow of inter-organization in the marine transportation logistics affects the efficiency of supply chain seriously. Through independent information sharing, information flow enhances the efficiency of planning and forecasting among the participators. On the other hand, due to the necessary of exchanges, companies must reveal some information that are unwilling to do simultaneously during the information flow. By the time of marine transportation companies set their own ocean freight cargo-forwarding companies up, the relationship of Co-opetition has also been set up. The issue of information leakage could cause the damage of benefits among the companies, even cause the core competence lost. Therefore, under the situation of Co-opetition among organizations, the problem of information leakages brought by information flow has become the major topic at this stage.
Looking over the related literatures available in inter-organization information flow, most of them concentrated on the benefit of sharing effects by information sharing, but they rarely analyzed how Co-opetition effects information leakages. We also found that there is no research extracting the inter-organization Co-opetition relation as medium construct. A few literatures which discuss the relation between organizations have considered the Co-opetition relation as well as other key factors that influence the inter-organization information flow. However, Inter-Organization knowledge flow not only yields information synergy but also has negative reverse-impact on the information owner. In the other words, if the information owner expects that some characteristics of the recipient may reduce the owner’s original value of the information and increase the competitiveness of the two parties during information flow, the paradox of the information flow will happen.
The questionnaires were distributed to the 583 firms that registered to International Ocean Freight Forwarders & Logistics Association, Taiwan before 2006. We retrieved the data by both face-to-face investigation and mailing. A structural equation model was used to analyze survey data collected from 201 respondents. The final response rate is 34.48%. After using structural equation model (SEM) to analyze returned questionnaires, the results show fine goodness of fit in measuring model and structural model. The results supported that Co-opetition is a medium factor that impacts on information sharing positively but impacts on information leakages negatively among organizations. Shared values and opportunistic behaviors not only affect Co-opetition significantly, but also both directly and indirectly affect the behavior of inter-organizational information flow significantly. We also discover parts of exceptional phenomenon in the industry of freight cargo-forwarding that shared values affect information leakages negatively is not significant, shared values affect competition positively, and competition affects information sharing positively.
At the end of the research, it shows the possible reasons that cause information leakage. It also discusses the factors always be remained while companies of ocean freight forwarders dealings or contact with each others. Those are the possible solutions as enterprises face to the relative difficulty. Hope all of above might declining the impacts caused by information leakages on enterprises.
