碩士 / 元智大學 / 資訊管理學系 / 95 / Many Taiwanese corporations usually assign their own Taiwanese managers of each department from the main office to be in charge of the establishment and management for the new branches in overseas during the beginning phase. The information system department is no exception. As the business actively turns international, it is worth it to explore and discuss the questions of whether or not to continue adapting the same pattern, or how to formulate adequate strategic management for international information system so that the development of its business can be most successful.
For a growing international business, it is facing to the increasingly complex operations in many aspects, including finance, general administration, logistic, sales and marketing, and manufacturing. Although multinational cooperation has ample resources and well experienced in corss-nation management, they have to integrate their global information technology and establish and unified strategy for universal implementation, so as to enable monitoring and assisting the operations of all subsidiaries around the globe in an effective and timely manner. As such, Information Technology starts to play an increasingly important role in developing responsive strategies under the intense local market competition.
Taiwanese multinational corporations will face the issues of the application information system maintenance architecture, regardless of the management style of the MIS department – organization and information architecture is centralized, decentralized, or both. This study will discuss from multinational corporations’ MIS department – organization, maintenance of application information system, information system architecture, and related theories and case study.
This thesis is a case study on multi-national business of a medium sized Taiwanese cooperation. It aims to achieve the following objectives by referring to relevant publications and observing the subject company’s information technology applications and their management’s views and needs on the above.
1.To understand the current applications on information technology by multinational Taiwanese cooperation.
2.To understand the information technology development strategy and the business directions of management policy while internationalizing for the subject company.
3.To establish a reference of information technology strategy for the subject company to improve operation efficiency as an advantage of obtaining timely and valuable information
