In 2007, Foxconn Technology Group was not only the largest EMS in the world, but also the first private enterprise with a turnover more than one trillion a year. The success of Foxconn is closely related to its business strategies. It’s also the focus of attention.
The case of this study is Foxconn. The purpose of the research is to investigate how Foxconn planned its business strategies effectively with different competitive strategies in different core competence areas. So Foxconn can enter new markets with competitive advantages. This study infers a conclusion of Foxconn’s business strategies from analysing its competitive advantages with SWOT analysis and related theories.
We find that Foxconn adopted both low-price and diversity strategies. It relates well with the theories proposed by Porter. The business strategies of Foxconn focused on second place philosophy to extend markets when entering markets of new products. Foxconn business strategies respondes to the Quotations from Terry Gou. Foxconn is also a corporation with complete consolidation strategy implementation. So its business strategies are worth investigating and learning.
