The Study on Coast Guards Job Stress, Physiological and Psychological Health, Coping Strategy-a case of Kinmen Guard Company / 基層海巡人員工作壓力、身心健康與因應策略之研究-以金門岸巡總隊為例

Though the time of serving in the army is very transient, and not passed the strict judicial training , but coast guards must be engaged in enforcing the law .In addition, military management style and the organizational culture that pay attention to class'' obeying make the coast guards experience higher job stress. This research is mainly to understand the views of coast guards in job stress , physiological and psychological health, and coping strategies. The whole research is based on the survey `Job stress survey of coast guards in Kinmen Guard Company`. The statistical base group is all the coast guards from Kinmen Guard Company, and a general survey method is used to collect the data which contains 288 effective samples. Statistical methods such as mean, t-test, One-way ANOVA, pearson product-moment correlation are used for this research based on feedback. The findings and conclusions are shown as following:
1.)The job stress of coast guards mainly comes from work, the inner of organization, personal factor. The most general job stress sources are `manpower is too little`, `the units of higher level often supervise`,` working time is too long `.The most general bad situations of coast guards in physiological health are `sleep quality is not good`,` feel weariness`, and` have pains in the loins and back`. The most common situations in psychological health are ''depressed mood '', '' nervous and unable to relax '', '' think relative worry for you '' .
2.)The coast guard''s personal background attributes , including age , education degree , work seniority , the attribute of unit , class and the kind of military service etc, reveal the difference with job stress. The coast guard''s marital status , work seniority and the kind of military service reveal the difference with the psychological health status. The kind of military service reach the difference with the physiological health status.
3.)There is a strong positive correlation between job stress and health. There is a correlation between job stress and negative coping strategies, but there is no correlation between job stress and positive coping strategies, so when coast guards experience higher job stress, they often adopt negative coping strategies. There is low or no correlation between positive coping strategies and health, there is middle correlation between negative coping strategies and health.
