A Survey on Si-Hai Dialect at Yu-li in Hualien / 花蓮玉里四海客家話研究

碩士 / 國立中興大學 / 中國文學系所 / 96 / The purpose of this survey is focus on the complex of Hakka language in the region of Hualien Yu-li. The theme is included two parts, phonetics and lexicon, emphasized on phonetics.
The phonetics of Si-Hai dialect is the crasis of vowels and consonants between Si-xian Hakka and Hai-lu Hakka. However, the tone system is still familiar with Si-xian Hakka at western region; only few is exposed in contrast in high or low tone; beside, some of pronunciation and lexicon are involved in Min dialect and Mandarin.

The survey is separated into six chapters as followed.

It is abstract at chapter one, concerned with research motive, purpose, method, content, and related documents. Also, the introduction of humanity and history circumstance and language contacted in Yu-li Town will be shown in this chapter.
In chapter two, it is introduced the analysis of vowel of Si-Hai dialect in Yu-li. It is distinguished into four parts below: the augmentative Z vowel, the pronunciation of the ancient initial groups Jian(見), Xiao(曉), and Ying(影), the bilabial nowadays, and the pronunciation of the ancient initial group Jing(精), Zhi(知), Zhung(莊), and Zhang(章).
In chapter three, it is introduced the analysis of consonant of Si-Hai dialect in Yu-li, separated into five parts, the pronunciation between ui vowel and the apical vowel, the variation between the xiao(效) and liu(流) , the phoneme between “o” and “a”, the variation between“a” and “o” in Hakka phoneme, and the effected by suffix or prefix of the rhyme.
In chapter four, it is about the tone system of Si-Hai dialect in Yu-li, three points as followed. First, it is described that the phonological comparison between the region of Si-Hai dialect and western side. Next, it is focus on the tone changes of Yu-li dialect. Finally, it is described that the changes between high tone and low tone at Yu-li dialect, explained by using floating tone.
In chapter five, it is focus on the lexicon system, with few analysis of syntax. First is the introduction of lexicon.Secondly, it is introduced about [e] suffix.
The chapter six is conclusion, conclude the language characteristic of Yu-li dialect, and discuss about the limitation and extension of the survey.
Additionally, there is an article attached in the end of the survey. An attached is named The syllabary of Si-Hai dialect in YuLi, which is described about the order of opening rhyme, Yangsheng rhyme final; Rusheng rhyme final, which is listed the phoneme of Si-Hai dialect in Yu-li.
