碩士 / 國立成功大學 / 高階管理碩士在職專班 / 96 / With its development over the past three decades since the 1980s, the local yacht industry has won Taiwan the reputation as a kingdom of yachts—a center of high quality yacht-manufacturing. Nowadays, in a fast-changing and diversifying business environment, it is very important for enterprise leaders to keep up with the trends and maintain longstanding competitive advantages, and the style of leadership tends to affect both organizational culture and business performance. Therefore, this study examined Taiwan’s yacht industry as the subject to explore the relationship between paternalistic leadership, organizational culture and organizational performance. It is hoped that the findings can serve as references for the academic and industrial sectors.
This study employed a measurement scale of paternalistic leadership, organizational culture and organizational performance to launch a questionnaire survey of a population of staff members from the yacht industry in Taiwan. A total of 500 questionnaires were distributed in a proportional stratified sampling strategy, and 157 valid questionnaires were recovered with a recovery rate of 31.40％. The data collected from the survey have been analyzed by means of statistical methods, including descriptive analysis, reliability analysis, ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis, regression analysis, and path analysis to verify the presumptions.
The results of this study indicate that (1) paternalistic leadership has significant positive influence on both organizational culture and organizational performance, and organizational culture has significant positive influence on organization performance, and (2) Paternalistic leadership has significant positive influence on organizational performance with organizational culture as a mediating factor. This study has come up with concrete suggestions from its results as references for the industrial and academic sectors.
