碩士 / 南華大學 / 文學系碩士班 / 96 / In this thesis, we mainly focus on the ocean literature of Hung-Chi Liao. His ocean literature explores the relations between human and ocean, human and fishes, especially for the experiences of the mind and body between the opposite relationships. Thus, the ocean literature of Hung-Chi Liao not only describes the appearance of ocean but also discusses the level of personal mind and culture psychology influenced by ocean, which related to the culture, society, politics, and economics.
There are five chapters in this thesis and the organization is as follows. We mainly focus on the chapter 2, 3, and 4 except for the chapter 1 of introduction and chapter 5 of conclusion. Chapter 2 presents the biography and writing background of Hung-Chi Liao. This chapter describes the influence of ocean in his life and ocean literature level by level.
Chapter 3 presents the story of fishermen written by Hung-Chi Liao. This chapter starts by establishing the positive personalities of fishermen and then shows the downgrade of fishery in Taiwan by the vitality diminishing of ocean.
Chapter 4 presents the relations between the navigation of the coast of Taiwan and his ocean literature. By his report of ocean navigation, he not only describes the relationships between human and ocean, human and land, but also shows the deeply relations between Hung-Chi Liao and ocean by the hard-working and the homesickness of fishermen.
