碩士 / 南華大學 / 環境管理研究所 / 96 / Rivulets are strongly related to economic development. However, excessive development can cause environmental disasters and destruction. Therefore, destruction and pollution can cause the collapse of rivulet ecosystems. Such a collapse threatens the living environment and quality of life and health of nearby residents. Therefore, residents started the program, Fish Protection through River Protection. The Community-Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM) is one of the most popular management strategies geared toward protecting the environment. CBNRM is based on regional conservation initiatives and implemented through the Fish Protection through River Protection strategy in Taiwan.
At present, fish habitat in Taiwan is protected through river protection. CBNRM is used carry out fish and river protection. However, each community has its own cultural background, meaning that each has a suitable CBNRM strategy. However, some communities that have started a CBNRM were unprepared; that is, they lack research data, funding, equipment, and ideas, which usually make the feasibility being an issue. This research is a case study of administrative unit cadres in Gao Jhong community, Taoyuan County, Penglai community, Nanzhuang Township, and Pinglin community, Taipei County. These three communities were analyzed via interviews with local residents and observations. This study discusses fish protection through river protection, community status, management techniques, different natural resources, and how fish can be protected through river protection.
