The Chichin District was a traditional fishing village community in Kaohsiung City. Its famous scenic spot, the West Coast Park, has been newly developed in the recent year. However, its relevant studies on traveling were still little known. Therefore, this study was attempted to discuss the relationships between traveling motivation and satisfaction of tourists for the West Coast Park at Chichin District.
The data was obtained by using convenience sampling method. A total of 1019 questionnaires was collected and has retrieved 998 valid questionnaires which reached a 97.93% valid rate. The relationships among the tourists’ traveling motivation, importance and satisfaction were examined by using factors and IPA analysis in this study. The results are as follows:
1. The first three items of traveling motivation are “to enjoy beautiful sceneries”, “to enhance relationship with family or friends”, and “to escape from the busy life and release stress”. The first three items of traveling importance are “the rescuing equipment for water safety”, “the guard line at the sea”, and “the public restroom”. The first three items of traveling satisfaction are “the overall environments and sceneries”, “the natural environments and sceneries”, “the convenience of transportation”.
2. The traveling motivation could be divided into four dimensions including community culture, local features, body and mind relaxation, and seashore experience. The four dimensions of importance cognition were consisted of plan of trips, infrastructure constructions, safety equipment, and activities participation. The tourism satisfaction could be divided into three dimensions including tourism activities, safety equipment, and infrastructure constructions.
3. It was found that there was no significant difference between the item of “average household monthly income” of tourists’ personal information and traveling motivation. Besides, other items of tourists’ personal information were partly significant difference with motivation.
4. It was found that the items of traveling characteristic were partly significant difference from motivation.
5. There has partly positive correlation between the level of importance and satisfaction with traveling motivation.
6. There has a significant correlation between importance and satisfaction. All the level of satisfaction is lower than the level of importance.
7. From the importance-performance analysis (IPA) and the other results, it is addressed several suggestions to our administrant for reference.
