Effects of Monostroma nitidum powder as a feed additive on growth performance and Physiology in juvenile Japanese eel Anguilla japonicus / 添加青海菜於飼料中對日本幼鰻成長及生理之影響

碩士 / 國立屏東科技大學 / 水產養殖系所 / 96 / This study was aimed to evaluate supplemented diets respectively with 0, 2.5, 5 and 7.5% of Monostroma nitidum powder (MNP0, MNP2.5, MNP5.0 and MNP7.5) on growth performance, hyperlipidemia and antioxidative activities in juvenile Japanese eel Anguilla japonicus. After 28 days of feeding trial, no significant differences in growth and survival of the fish were found among treatments. In all treatments the results of hyperlipidemia showed that fish fed MNP5.0 and MNP7.5 had a lower significantly serum cholesterol ; fish fed MNP2.5, MNP5.0 and MNP7.5 had a lower significantly serum triglyceride.
Refering to antioxidative activities, on ALT and AST of tested fish, there were no significant difference of the fish among treatments. Fish fed MNP5.0 and MNP7.5 had significantly higher TAS. Fish fed MNP7.5 had significantly higher SOD these fish fed the other diets, respectively. Fish fed MNP7.5 had significantly higher GSH-Px than these fed MNP5.0 and the other diets. Fish fed MNP5.0 and MNP7.5 had significantly lower TBARS than the control. However, fish fed MNP7.5 had significantly lower TBARS than that fed MNP5.0.
For fishes exposed to hyperthermal stress (33 -34°C for 120 min), those fed MNP5.0 and MNP7.5 had significantly lower ALT than the other diets. Fish fed MNP2.5, MNP5.0 and MNP7.5 had significantly lower AST than that fed MNP0. Fish fed MNP5.0 and MNP7.5 had significantly higher TAS, SOD and GSH-Px than the other treatments. Fish fed MNP5.0 and MNP7.5 had significantly lower TBARS than the control. However, fish fed MNP7.5 had significantly lower TBARS than that fed MNP5.0. Feeding diets were supplemented with 5 and 7.5% of Monostroma nitidum powder, Juveniles Japanese eel (Anguilla japonica). had significantly higher antioxidative activities and scavenging free radicals and liver protection when exposed to hyperthermal stress.
