Body Weight and Blood Lipid Regulationfor Obese Individuals by Dietary Supplement of Mixed Algae Formulation / 以人體試驗評估海藻複方調節體重與血脂之功能

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 食品科學系 / 96 / The objective of this research is to evaluate the influence of dietary supplement of mixed algae formulation with respect to body weight and blood lipid regulation by human subject experiments. Forty healthy adults volunteered to participate in the experiments; that are categorized into 4 groups, 10 persons per group. GroupⅠ: eight placebo tablets were taken twice a day. GroupⅡ: two seaweed and six placebo tablets were taken twice a day. GroupⅢ: five seaweed and three placebo tablets were taken twice a day. GroupⅣ: eight seaweed tablets were taken twice a day. The trial lasts for three months. During the period, the body weight, BMI, body fat percentage, waist-hip ratio, serum total cholesterol, serum triglyceride, serum LDL-C, serum HDL-C, and serum OX-LDL of each volunteer were measured and recorded every month.Within three months, the data been collected and analyzed indicates that in groupⅡ, Ⅲ and Ⅳ, the body weight, BMI, body fat percentage and waist-hip ratio have no significant differences among others. In the mean time, the serum total cholesterol, serum triglyceride and serum LDL-C, serum OX-LDL, have decreased dramatically (P<0.05) while serum HDL-C concentration has increased on the contrary (P<0.05). Therefore, this trial explicates that seaweed tablets are able to reduce the concentration of serum total cholesterol, serum triglyceride and serum LDL-C in serum and increase the concentration of serum HDL-C on the other hand. Meanwhile, seaweed tablets are capable of delaying LDL oxidation as well.
