碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 食品科學系 / 96 / In order to understand the water quality and heavy metals pollution of Toucian River basin, the water, soil and bottom mud were sampled at Jhudong Bridge (Shangping stream) and Jianshih Bridge (Youluo stream) located the upper basin of Toucian River, Jhulin Bridge, Jhongjheng Bridge, Toucian River Bridge and estuary of Toucian River. The inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometer (ICP-OES) was used to measure Pb+2, As+3, Cd+2, and Hg+2 ion contents. The pH and chemical oxygen demand (COD) of water were also monitored. According to the results, Pb+2 and As+3 were found in the soil and bottom mud at the river basin during dry season. There was no Cd+2 and Hg+2 in the water through out a year. The concentrations of these four monitored metal ions were found under the regulation criterion of the Environmental Department. Therefore, Toucian River basin was still minor heavy metal pollution. By way of the bio-condensation, the content of Pb+2, As+3, and Cd+2 of the fish bodies and visceria organs in the estuary were found various each month and slightly higher at some months during a year. The results were considered that it might be the species and size of collecting fish samples from the river. Furthermorer, the change of pH and COD were found significantly lower and decreasing with water runoff of this river especially rainy and typhoon season effect.
