Constructing a Global City:The Path of Shanghai / 上海建構全球城市之路徑:以1992年至2006年建設四大國際中心為例

National state has already be adjusted in order to the impact of globalization, as well as China that a late-developing country. This kind of state is positive to economic development, government wants the multinational companies to invest in her state, especially to invest in important city. They expect the important city can be a node in global economics, be a “Global City”. They hope the city can influence the global economic. So, the city studies are focus, especial those cities that can influence the development of global economics and politics. However, the non-western state less be the object of study, to say nothing of the city of communistic country. This study want to transfer the object of study to the non-western state, Shanghai, to treat of China how to construct to a global city.
The study analyze the central government and local government in china how to influence the path of constructing a global city of shanghai. Second, we discuss Four Centers of Shanghai—economic, financial, trade and shipping, their developments and difficulties. Thirds, to comparative the path of path of constructing a global city of shanghai, New York and Tokyo, in order to complementary the study of Hill & Kim.
