博士 / 中國文化大學 / 國際企業管理研究所 / 96 / This study empirically examines the relationship between motivation for expatriate managers and subsidiary’s performance. In addition, different MNE managerial culture level moderates the relationship between motivation for expatriate managers and subsidiary’s performance is also explored. The data is derived from questionnaire completed by 177 Japan, England, and the American MNE’s subsidiaries in manufacturing industries in Taiwan. After eliminating 24 responses with missing data, the sample for analysis consists of 153 questionnaires, a rate of 62.1%.
The result indicates that motivation for expatriate managers is positively related to subsidiary’s performance. In addition, the other finding is that different MNE managerial culture moderates the relationship between motivation for expatriate managers and subsidiary’s performance. Finally, the contribution of this study, recommendation for the managerial practice and future research is further discussed.
