The Research of Beijing Opera Troupes from Shanghai in the Postwar Years after the Second Sino-Japanese War: Take "The Zhang Beijing Opera Troupe" as an Elaboration Point / 戰後初期來台上海京班研究-以「張家班」為論述對象

碩士 / 中國文化大學 / 戲劇研究所 / 96 / “The Zhang Beijing Opera Troupe” was a traditional regular professional training institution which had been founded in Shanghai, China. In November 1948, the leader Zhang Yuan-Ting and his wife Dong Yue-Hong named the troupe “The Zhang’s Juniors Beijing Opera Troupe” and crossed through the strait by Zhong-Sing ship to Taiwan for touring. “Zhang” was the only children’s Beijing Opera troupe remained the whole in the beginning of the postwar years of the Second Sino-Japanese War.

In 1949, the members of the troupe had been recruited into the 80th army of Republic of China, and named “Zheng-Yi (Justice) Beijing Opera Troupe”. Even sixty-year passing, there are some members still alive in very healthy condition and enjoy the events of Beijing Opera. But most importantly, they have been experienced and sighted the great revolution of traditional performing arts in Taiwan during the period.

Moreover on the official records, less attention about The Zhang Beijing Opera Troupe has received. Thus, the main idea of this research takes the time back for sixty years; attention on the environmental evolution of traditional performing arts in Taiwan, digging the factors out of what have been changed, innovated, or disappeared, and for any good or unexpected reason has turned that up.

Depending on a few references and members, this research will finally drag out all the information and documents about The Zhang Beijing Opera Troupe. The oral records of the interview from the members as complements support the subject of this article. Therefore, I hope this research can make sufficiently on the historical-oriented of traditional performing arts in Taiwan, enrich efficiently on the documentation of Beijing Opera during the postwar years, and generate a newly vision of theory in drama for educating and conveying to the next generation and following researchers.
