A Navigation System with Visualizing Landmark Information on e-Map / 地標資訊視覺化之電子地圖導覽系統

碩士 / 靜宜大學 / 資訊管理學系研究所 / 96 / The E-Map service has a huge amount of consumers and has rapidly become popular. It provides not only geographic signposting but also a functional tool which combines living information, property rental sales and traffic status enquiring. The E-Map that combines with these services can upgrade the practicability and also have brought us commoditization; it supplies tools for browsers to search and guide people to fit in the information easily.
The E-Map services have still some improvable parts of the navigation functions, such as: (i) Search Mode – the basic search mode of latter search function is mostly using text. However, the occasion of using map is usually a situation with a sense of strangeness. In the current situation of navigation tools, it may cause the inaccuracy if the user is uncertain about the keywords of landmarks, or when the result of categorized searching that system provides is different from the user’s expectancy. (ii) The display of landmarks – it may account for the cluster server failover while displaying a huge number of landmarks, and may frustrate user to identify in the meantime. (iii) Information analysis and compare – in current situation, users still need to analyze and compare which result reaches the request when the landmarks shown at the E-Map.
The research advocates visualizing the landmark information of E-Map navigation system to solve the above-mentioned problem. The concrete functions are as follows: Offering search directories which include translation searching on the map itself, keyword searching, and categories searching for users to choose the best searching mode depending on different situations. As to the problems of display of the information, offering new tools such as details, symbols and pictures on the E-Map will bring more conveniences to the users when comparing and analyzing the search result.
