碩士 / 國立中正大學 / 地震研究所暨應用地球物理研究所 / 97 / Magnetotactic bacterium was found for first time by R.P. Blackemore in the samples of marsh in 1975. There are magnetosomes in the bacteria, containing Fe3O4 and Mn3O4 particles that have the properties of attracting by magnetic force. Related research literature points out that the magnetotactic bacterium orient along the earth magnetic field by it''s magnetosomes and find the most suitable living environment and food. In this study, I cultivated the magnetotactic bacteria Magnetospirillum magnetotacticum MS-1 in anaerobic environment in two different media. The influence of organic acid and carbon dioxide on the production of the magnetosomes has been investigated. The magnetosomes were prepared by using freeze-dried cells of MS-1, and followed by measuring the magnetic properties by vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). Hysteresis loop was carried out to compare the coercive force, saturation induction, remanence magnetization, maximum energy product, and squareness ratio. I also can measure the isothermal remanence magnetization and demagnetization to measure the δM and the Henkel plot, determining the intergranular interaction between crystals of magnetosomes.
