Survey of Whole-body Vibration Exposure at Work of Truck Drivers in Construction Industry / 營建業運輸車輛駕駛人員之全身性振動暴露調查

碩士 / 朝陽科技大學 / 營建工程系碩士班 / 97 / The condition which workers have occupational injuries caused by current working environments has become rather serious in Taiwan. Those injured workers are mostly engaged in the construction industry. Meanwhile, the vibration of vehicles causes direct harm to the health of drivers or operators and further leads to their low back pain and Herniated Intervertebral Disc (HIVD). The criteria for the exposure to whole-body vibration (WBV) specified in ISO2631-1(1985) has been applied nationally. However, ISO2631-1(1997) and ISO2631-5(2004) were supplemented internationally due to the insufficiency of previous regulations. This study mainly explores if the degree of whole-body vibration exposure experienced by drivers of ready-mixed concrete trucks and gravel trucks exceeded the criteria specified in current laws and regulations. In addition, the applications of the existing laws and regulations are discussed in this paper. For finding out the likelihood of harm to the health of drivers of ready-mixed concrete trucks and gravel trucks, questionnaires were applied to interview and survey those drivers. Afterwards, cross analysis was conducted between the results derived from practical measurements and questionnaire survey.
According to the cross analysis between the practical measurements and questionnaire survey, the acceptable operation time calculated on a basis of the criteria specified in the existing ISO2621-1(1985) was longer than the daily working hours, i.e. 8 hours. However, the results obtained from the questionnaire showed that the drivers felt physical discomfort caused by work. The evaluation method for the drivers of ready-mixed concrete trucks and gravel trucks adopted by ISO2631-1(1997) presented a more consesrvative manner. Therefore, if the existing regulations could be corrected by meeting the criteria in ISO2631-1 (1997), the health of drivers could be protected without further applying ISO2631-5(2004).
