碩士 / 輔仁大學 / 管理學研究所 / 97 / Taiwan is an island with a lot of marine resources. In order to protect the marine ecological resources, the Taiwan government announced in 1967 a basic policy on「limiting fishing boat construction」for the first time.
In 1989, the Taiwan government announced a wide-range policy to「limit fishing boat construction」which affected a lot of fishing boat shipyard companies. Of the current 123 members of the Taiwan Shipbuilding Industry Association, an even lesser number of companies are constructing fishing boats; from its already few actual shipyard construction companies. Because of this, the fishing boat shipyards are facing the problem of how to maintain their competitive strength.
This research is based on the Porter’s theories to analyze the competitive external circumstances opportunities & threats and internal strengths & weaknesses. Then we will use SWOT(strength, weakness, opportunity, threat), analysis to figure out what problems they face. After that, through TOWS (threat, opportunity, weakness, strength)matrix, we will figure out the strategy for an individual company's reference.
