碩士 / 輔仁大學 / 體育學系碩士班 / 97 / Abstract
With the qualitative research approach, deep interview was implemented in this study. There were six objects selected from the rowers who represented Taiwan to participate in international contests and National Sports Games from 2002 to 2008. The purpose was to explore the elite rowers’ training motive, training process, psychological training, the mentality before a contest, the interaction between contestants and coaches, the career plan in the future, the influence of rowing on the rowers, and the problems and solutions according to the expectations for rowing.
The results of the study were as follows.
(1) The background and the motive of training: the rowers started rowing because of personal interest or the coach’s recommendation when they were high school students. In junior high school, most rowers continued training for fun; in senior high school, most rowers continued training for entering colleges; at college, the rowers continued training for breakthroughs and self-realization.
(2) The psychological training and the mentality before a contest: most of the rowers didn’t receive the psychological training and they depended on self-regulation or the coach’s guidance. As to the the mentality before a contest, mostly the coach relieved the rowers in high school. However, the rowers at college adjusted themselves to the contest.
(3) The rowers’ values: striving for victory and seeking breakthroughs were mainly the values. In the process of training, the rowers were active in getting high grades. And they would be depressed when getting hurt.
(4) The problems and solutions in the process of training: the rowers’ main problem was suffering sports injuries when they were or were not in training. The solutions were seeing a traditional Chinese doctor or a western doctor, going to the martial art studio and taking physical therapy.
(5) The career plan and the expectations for rowing: the rowers hoped to be coaches or teachers to instruct the potential elite rowers in rowing. Most of the rowers hoped for new elite rowers and a well organization and to increase the competitiveness of rowing by centralized training.
