碩士 / 輔仁大學 / 體育學系碩士班 / 97 / The purpose of the study was to investigate the motivation and constraints of technical diving participation of Taiwanese and Korean international recreational diving instructors. Taiwanese and Korean recreational diving instructors participating in technical diving were involved in the study’s questionnaire survey. Descriptive statistics, t-tests, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson product-moment correlation methods were used in data analyzing. The study concluded:
1. The motivation factors of technical diving participation for Taiwanese instructors, in a descending perception order, were “Knowledge Needs”, “Social Needs”, “Psychological Needs”, “Health and Fitness” and “Working Needs”, whereas “Knowledge Needs”, “Working Needs”, “Psychological Needs”, “Social Needs” and “Health and Fitness” were for Korean counterparts.
2. The constraints of technical diving participation for both Taiwanese and Korean instructors, in a descending perception order, were “Structural Constraint”, “Interpersonal Constraint” and “Intrapersonal constraint”.
3. Taiwanese instructors scored significant higher on the “Health and Fitness” factor, but significant lower on the “Working Needs” than their Korean counterparts.
4. There was no significant difference on the constrains perception levels among instructors with different ages, educational degrees, major occupations, involvement in the diving business, monthly income, and recreational diving participation years from different areas.
5. There was a significant negative correlation between instructors’ participation motivation and constraint perception, a significant positive correlation between Taiwanese instructors’ “Working Needs” motive and the perception of “Structural Constraint”, and, a significant negative correlation between Korean instructors’ overall perceptions of motivation and constrains in technical diving participation.
