The same situation also happens to civil servant system. Job stress has become the key issue when researching the health and welfare of staff members. Therefore, the academia and practice pay much attention to stress - related problems, especially, finding the right way to deal with it has become another important issue. As we know, leisure activities will not only enhance the personal well-being, but also reduce the stress of life, and further maintain physical and mental health. Leisure has also become a common phenomenon of human culture, as well as become an important indicator for the modernistic and advanced countries nowadays. The leisure behavior of civil servants also becomes a research-worthy subject, especially after the two-day weekend policy takes effect.
This study aimed to explore the distribution of jobstress , leisure needs, and leisure participation originated from the work characteristics of Customs staff. And also explore the influence of job stress on leisure participation.
The study targeted the customs staff of Kaohsiung Customs Office. The returned questionnaires were analyzed by SPSS Windows 14.0. The analytical methods used mainly in the study are reliability analysis, validity analysis, descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, and multiple linear regression etc.. The results were that: (1) There are significant differences between leisure participation and leisure needs. (2) The different demographic characteristics of the Customs staff have significant differences on job stress, leisure needs, and leisure participation. (3) Job stress has the positive influence on the Customs’ staff leisure needs.
