A study on the general public’s “energy-efficiency and CO2-reduction” knowledge, attitude, and practice in Taiwan – using Taichung Harbor area as an example / 國內民眾對節能減碳觀念的知識、態度、及行為研究—以台中港區居民為例

碩士 / 國立中興大學 / 環境工程學系所 / 97 / This study aims to explore the correlation among the cognition, attitude and behavior of Taiwanese inhabitants toward the issue of ‘energy-saving and reducing CO2 emission’. This research has adapted the methodology of quantitative research methodology into the tailor-made questionnaires for random testers. 285 valid samples out of 300 questionnaires are collected and carefully analyzed from the testers who live in the Taichung Harbor area. Statically speaking, 65% testers seem to generally understand the definitions and classifications of energy and are concerned about the global warming and energy crisis. The higher educational backgrounds of testers are, the better knowledge about these issues they have. Up to 75% of testers consider the energy-saving tasks should be taken without any hesitation and are positive for governmental policies in terms of energy consumptions.

According to this study, it arises our attention that 68% of the samples lack the crisis consciousness on the Taiwan current situation, such as 95% of energy is actually imported from oversea areas. Thus some inappropriate behaviors will be conducted by the wrong assumptions.

This research on the basis of the questionnaire surveys suggests the close relationship among the cognition and some constructive strategies and suggestions have been made.
