The area about Taiwan’s territorial waters is 106804 square kilometers and almost the triple size (2.96) of the island. Taiwan has a very rich marine ecology. One of the vital resources is Ocean renewable energy. It is very important energy strategy to develop sustainable energy since Taiwan, an island lacked natural resources always relies on imported energy. Therefore, developing and utilizing Ocean renewable energy is the first step to take Taiwan as energy sustainable environment.
Energy technology and energy policy have great impact on the implementation of Energy development and utilization. The study focuses on advanced countries such as the states, Japan, UK and European Union etc. We can understand those governments how to stipulate the energy policy and absorb their experiences. Besides, the research of renewable energy from other countries can explain what the difference between Taiwan’s energy policies. In the mean time, the research is devoted to better and effective renewable energy development.
In the process of renewable energy development, we are in an effort to prove Taiwan has an advantage to exploit marine renewable energy and give our government the detailed and exact statement. The case study is about Renewable Energy Draft relating to the plight of ocean thermal energy conversion. Lastly, there are four conclusions submitted and reference help to establish ocean renewable energy acts.
Judging from the research, it is clearly that marine renewable energy can be a great alternative energy to implement. The application and development of marine renewable energy needs our government’s support and improves the policy on marine renewable energy.
