The Estimation on Manpower Supply and Demand of Ocean Technology in Taiwan / 國內海洋科技人力供需研究與推估

碩士 / 國立成功大學 / 海洋科技與事務研究所 / 97 / Our government promotes the policy of the ocean actively. Scientific and technological manpower for the country's future economic development is very important. In this paper, I combine ocean technology with manpower supply and demand, then estimates of future trends.
This article is divided into supply-side and demand-side. Supply-side based on university and institute, and the demand-side is divided into businesses, schools, research units, and the public service.
University supplies:
Nearly a decade, the growth rate about national university students is 9.6 %, fisheries science students is 10.7%, naval mechatronic students is 6.6% , marine science students is 5.5%, and ocean engineering students is -1.7%.
Institute supplies:
Nearly a decade, the growth rate about national institute students is 15.0 %, fisheries science students is 10%, marine Science students is 7.2%, ocean engineering students is 7.1%, naval mechatronic students is -5.8%.
Demand-side:
Demand growth rate of businesses is 1%, schools are 0%, research units are 8%, and public service is 0.45%.
Comparison of supply and demand:
In the naval mechatronic category, that is excessive supply of manpower but manpower lack of demand. There are vocational training to improve the situation, but likely to face that industrial economy and remedies can't cooperate.
In ocean engineering category, manpower of demand and supply is stability, the proportion that the master enters a higher school is higher and higher, and it will result in the quality reduce, and then Doctor's degree will become main force of advanced research.
In marine science category, the manpower supply is much more than the demand. The government could invest more resources and funds in marine research, or provide employment guide.
In fisheries science category, the manpower supply is more than the demand, but the manpower at the basic level is scarce, it is a good settlement that guide properly to surplus manpower to the basic unit.
