碩士 / 國立成功大學 / 光電科學與工程研究所 / 97 / Our work demonstrates the feasibility of engineering left-handed metamaterials by periodic stacking of sub-wavelength hole array plates and brings together extraordinary optical transmission and left-handed behavior. Furthermore, we can achieve right-handed or left-handed metamaterials by adjusting hole diameter of metal plates or longitudinal lattice period.
We also verify the refraction index of fishnet metamaterials governed by Snell’s law is the same as theory calculation.
However, losses are one of the big challenges to be surpassed in order to design practical devices at optical wavelength. These fishnet structures exhibit inherently an extraordinary optical transmission which could offer a solution to the problem of losses at optical wavelengths.
