碩士 / 國立高雄海洋科技大學 / 海洋生物技術研究所 / 97 / Amphiprion ocellaris not only is a most traded species of clownfish, but also a popular pet for marine aquarium hobbyists. The aims of this study are to observe breeding behavior and embryonic development and evaluate the effect of Isochrysis galbana tml – enriched rotifer (Brachionus sp.)and Artemia on growth rate, survival rate and stress resistance of Amphiprion ocellaris larvae.
One pair of Amphiprion ocellaris ovulated 33 times a year, average spawning interval were 10.6 days. The spawning time started from 12:00 to 15:00 with a peak on 13:00 and spawning process took 50 to 60 minutes. The average hatching period was 7.3 days, about 173 to 180 hours under 26~27℃ water temperature. The significant characteristics during the larval development were color changes, fin fold transformations and increasing of body length. The larvae were fed with rotifers from DAH 1(Day After Hatch)to DAH 8 and fed with Artemia from DAH 7 to DAH 20. The body length of larvae achieved 11.36± 0.88mm on DAH 20. The final weight, specific growth rate, survival rate and survival rate after handling stress on treatment group were significantly higher(p<0.05) than control group. Respectively, it is recommended that n-3 HUFAs should be increased up to 2.9% of total fatty acid for rotifers and to 2.6% for Artemia in order to improve the growth, survival rate, and survival rate of Amphiprion ocellaris larvae after handling stress.
