碩士 / 國立高雄海洋科技大學 / 漁業生產與管理研究所 / 97 / The home economics extension education (HEEE) of the Fishermen’s Association in Taiwan has been established 24 years. Although the courses of the HEEE could have a great influence to the women in the fisheries villages, it was still little documents on the attendants’ motives and their satisfaction. This study is trying to understand those relations on motive, importance and satisfaction involved with the women (including house-wives and working females) in the fisheries village who attended the courses held by the Taiwan Provincial Fishermen’s Association. The results of this research could provide some valuable information for authorities when they plan to carry out the long term project or management in future.
This study adopted the method in questionnaires collection. The basic input data included personal information, motives of attendants, degree of importance, and degree of satisfaction. Total sample size of the basic input data was 696 sets with effective return rate of 100%. To analyze the basic input data, computer software of SPSS system with 12.0 Version was used. The results were shown as follows:
1) A total of 696 attendants attended the HEEE were interviewed. Most of the female attendants took the courses over three to five years. The ages of attendants ranged from 40 to 59 years old. Most of them were house-wives with high school or high provocation in the educational background, and with the personal incomes under NT$10,000.
2) Top three motives were “opportunities in learning new knowledge”, “knowledge in nutrition and health”, and “happiness after taking the courses”. About the instructors section of questionnaires, most attendants agreed to “the preparation of the presentation”, “famous instructor with known popularity”, and “the practical stuff in the presentation”. Furthermore, about the items of the satisfaction, most attendants satisfied on “to invite the famous instructors”, “the instructors familiar with living standard and provided advice” and “the educational background of the instructors”.
3) Four categories in the motives section that attracted the attendants on the courses, were “self-development”, “career development”, “social activities” and “families conditions”. In the satisfaction and importance sections, it could be divided into “teachers’ quality”, “the content of the courses”, “the environment”, “the efficiency” and “ the administration service” five dimensions.
4) Some results indicated that the personal background could cause some difference on motives of attendance. However, it showed highly relation between motive of attendance and importance or satisfaction. It also showed that there had significant difference between degree of importance and degree of satisfaction but the degree of satisfaction was greater than of importance.
