碩士 / 國立屏東教育大學 / 社會科教育學系碩士班 / 97 / The purpose of this study is to （a）take the state of transport as the key point, recording the reformed process and the result of Nanchou Sugar Factory from 1968 to 2007 and; （b）take the Landscape viewpoint, probing into the reformed outcome from for the pure sugar industry reason to the result for the sightseeing.
The main results of the study are summarized as follows:
1. The development of Nanchou Sugar Factory transportation was from the vapor power evolution to the diesel oil internal combustion power. And there were no stockade for the vehicles of the transportation conveying sugar cane; meanwhile, it was the unique exceptional case in Taiwan.
2. Nanchou Sugar Factory aiming for the development of sightseeing, once attempted to reform positively and it set up many experimental activities. However, the experiences of driving the small train for the passengers were cancelled by Ministry of Transportation Communications. The small train for sightseeing was halted because the passengers diminished day by day. Furthermore, owing to the improper management of Nanchou Sugar Factory, it decreased the wills of the tourists’ visit. According to the results of this research, the reasons why Nanchou Sugar Factory failed to promote the tourism include: NSF lacked the positive operational policy, distinguishing characteristic, team spirit and joint with the peripheral amusement scenic spot. Therefore, it resulted in the causes that the sugar industry production, the small train, and the historical culture finally vanished in Pingtung County.
In conclusion, the aforesaid results are presented and proposed suggestions for Taisugar operators interested in promoting tourism.
