Applying CHEMTAX to Investigate the Algal Community Composition Relevant to Water Mass Properties in the East China Sea / 東海陸棚區色素鑑定法的應用-水團特性對浮游植物族群結構的影響

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 生物科技研究所 / 97 / The pigments of phytoplankton sampling from two summer cruises (July, 2007 and 2008) and one winter cruise (January, 2008) were measured, following the CHEMTAX estimation of class level algal taxa that contribute Chla. Temporal and spatial effects for the phytoplankton community structure are discussed in this thesis.
For summer cruises, the water mass of most samples were classified into Taiwan current warm water (T), in which cyanobacteria (Cyano), bacillariophyceae(Bacilla), prochlorophyceae (Proch), prymnesiophyceae (Prymn) and chrysophytes (Chrys) were considered to be dominant algal taxa. The Bacilla displayed a decreasing trend toward the open ocean. Both summer cruises, enriched Dinoflagellates (Dinof) were discovered at the station 100 miles from southeast Zhoushan islands. In Changjiang diluted water (C), Bacilla contributed extreme Chla, other dominant algal taxa were Dinof, Prymn and Chlorophyceae (Chloro). Bacilla and Chrys were dominant algal taxa in Yellow Sea mixed water, which appeared an upwelling phenomenon at Changjiang estuary mouth. Dominant algal taxa in low oxygen water were Cyano, Bacilla, Prymn and Chloro; in Kuroshio water were Cyano, Bacilla and Prymn. Enriched Cyano was observed in the region of Kuroshio upwelling.
For winter cruise, the Bacilla, Chloro, Chrys, and Crypt were dominant algal taxa in Changjiang coastal current. Comparing the identical sampling location, Chla contribution in winter by Crypt was increased, however, by Cyano, Dinof, Proch and Prymn was decreased. Dominant algal taxa in Kuroshio water were Bacilla, Chloro, Chrys and Crypt, in which Chrys represented an increasing trend toward the open ocean. In shelf mixing water, the dominant algal taxa were Bacilla, Chloro, Chrys. Neither horizontal distribution nor vertical distribution appeared particular trend for any algal taxa in shelf mixing water.
