The variation of chlorophyll concentration influenced by aerosol on South China Sea / 南海海域葉綠素濃度受氣膠影響之變化

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 海洋環境資訊學系 / 97 / The purpose of this research is using aerosol optical thickness (AOT), chlorophyll-a concentration(Chl-a) and sea surface temperature (SST) of Aqua satellite MODIS, aerosol optical depth(AOD) from MODIS Atmosphere Discipline Group and sea surface wind of Quik- SCAT satellite to investigate the variation of chlorophyll concentration influenced by aerosol on South China Sea (SCS).
Long-time data shows the prevailing wind of SCS are dominated by the northeast (October to April) and southwest (May to September) monsoon. During the northeast monsoon period, the strongest wind speed appeared in December (about 11m/s), and the SST is 22oC~28oC. Chl-a concentration is 0.2μg/l~0.9μg/l and its high concentration appears on SCS everywhere. The aerosol, carried to the south SCS durning the strongest northeast monsoon, maybe included the industrial pollution from eastern China and the dust from Asian desert. During the southwest monsoon period, the strongest wind speed appeared in August (about 8m/s), and the SST is 27oC~31oC. Chl-a concentration is 0.1μg/l~0.7μg/l, and its high concentration appear around Sunda Shelf. The main source of aerosols included biomass burning in Sumatra and Borneo, and the prevailing wind can these aerosols it to the southern SCS and mid-SCS.
The monthly anomaly is to investigate the variations between Chl-a and aerosols with no affected by upwelling. Usually, in Dec., Jan. and Feb., the aerosol anomaly is high and Chl-a anomaly is high, too. Its show that, during northeast monsoon period, the well correlation (R>0.5) between Chl-a and aerosols is all over the SCS. And the well correlation (R>0.5) is scattered all over the southern SCS. The results show that, the well correlation must between aerosols and Chl-a on SCS.
