Numerical modeling of sewage diffusion in the region near the Kaohsiung Harbor / 高雄港區附近海域污水擴散模擬

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 海洋環境資訊學系 / 97 / The main purpose of this study is using a three-dimensional model, Princeton Ocean Model (POM), to investigate the distribution of sewage in the region near Kaohsiung Harbor. Here, we just consider the model is driven by tides and sewage discharged into the studied area by the two sewage drain pipes�{Nakasu and Talinpu. Besides, we also simulate the features of sewage diffusion with different volume of sewage discharge.
In this study, three experiments have been designed to investigate the structure of the sewage plume according to different dilution ratio and sewage emissions. They are: (1) discharged water with a conservative 10 times magnification diluted conditions; (2) with daily average emissions- 847,051m3 in August 2005; (3) with increased daily discharge volume 1,200,000m3, respectively.
The model indicates that the distribution of the surface salinity field is discrepant with different sewage emissions. The largest decreased salinity value is proliferated from 0.3 to 0.4 and 0.5 psu at Talinpu and Nakasu, respectively. By examining the salinity difference on the 500m- distance circle of the two sewage drain pipes, the model implies that the sewage water spreading to the north is much conspicuous than others. Also, the sewage is primarily distributed in the surface layer because the density of sewage is smaller than the ambient sea water. In contrast, the salinity decrease is not so obvious in the middle and bottom water layer.
The simulation results show that the spread toward north when the high tide, and south when the low tide. Moreover, the spread of sewage near Talinpu sewage drain pipe is more complicated and the sewage from Talinpu has less influence the coastal region water. At last, the simulation results verify that the emission at low tide stage is the best time.
