Satellite Observations of the Bohai Sea and Yellow Sea / 渤海、黃海海域之衛星觀測

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 海洋環境資訊學系 / 97 / The satellite-derived Aqua/MODIS chlorophyll-a concentration (Chl-a), and sea surface temperature (SST), and QuikSCAT/SeaWinds sea surface wind (SSW) are used in this study to investigate their variations in the Bohai Sea and Yellow Sea during the period from July 2002 to June 2008. The results show that Chl-a in the Bohai Sea is always greater than 3.5μg/l all the year round. Meanwhile, the highest Chl-a happens in December, and lowest in September. The Chl-a in the Yellow Sea is lower than that in the Bohai Sea. The highest Chl-a in the Yellow Sea happens in April, while the lowest in July. For inter-annual variation, the abnormal high Chl-a in the central Bohai Sea happened in November 2003 and December 2006, in the Bohai Strait happened in September 2006, in the North Yellow Sea happened in October 2006, in the Southern Yellow Sea in the whole 2005 and April 2007. The SST is mainly seasonal in the study area, the lower SST with higher spatial variation happens in January-March, the higher SST with less spatial change happens in July-September. For inter-annual scale, the SST in January-March 2007 is abnormal higher in the study area, the highest SST in the south Yellow Sea happens in August 2006. The SSW in the study area is also seasonal, it is northerly from September to March next year, southerly from April to July, while easterly in August. The SSW in winter is stronger than that in summer. It is also found that Chl-a and SST shows a negative correlation, while Chl-a and SSW are positively correlated, but their relation are not so clear.
