碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 海洋環境化學與生態研究所 / 97 / In order to understand the inter-annual variation of summertime primary production in the shelf of the East China Sea prior to the full operation of the Three-Gorges Dam in the middle stream of Changjiang River, China. Primary production and environmental conditions data from nine summer cruises between 1998 to 2008 collected from the East China Sea were analyzed. The results indicated that highly inter-annual variation of primary production was observed. The shelf averaged value of primary production ranged from 450 to 1332 mgC m-2 d-1. Primary production inside the range of Changjiang Dilute water (indicated by sea surface salinity less than 31) was about 1.7 to 2.6 times higher than the value outside the range of Changjiang Dilute water (CDW). Dome-shape like relationship between primary production and dispersing area of CDW in the East China Sea was found. The highest value of primary production was observed at CDW dispersing area about 60,000 km2. No significant relationship was found between the monthly discharge of Changjiang at Tatong hydrologic station and the dispersing area if CDW.
