Multi Agents Ship Traffic Simulation Platform with Autonomous Navigation Route and Collision Avoidance Manoeuvre Mechanism / 具有多船自主航路與避碰機制之智慧型船舶交通模擬平台

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 通訊與導航工程系 / 97 / Recently, the fast developing international trade and technology lead to more frequent marine transportation as well as larger and faster vessels. This in turn caused more crowded trade route and port traffic, thus the increased rate of collision and its severity. According to the statistics from the Ministry of Transportation and Communications and the Council of Agriculture, around 80% of marine accidents are caused by human error. In order to reduce and avoid such accidents and to improve navigational safety, this system implements the collision regulation (ColReg) in the traffic simulation to create various realistic situations for users to exercise collision preventing process.
With this simulator, targets can be created in any probable locations by using navigation charts as background. Each target has its autonomous route following and anti-collision functions. All parameters of the targets, including the speed, course, waypoints, and the repetition rate along the route, can be set by the user. Such multi-ship constructs can be stored and re-loaded at any moment during the simulation, or broadcast to radar simulators as NMEA0183 sentences via Ethernet connection. Each generated target ship or connected radar simulator is the target of others. All of them constitute a big marine traffic. It is easy for users to learn the ColReg and accumulate experiences. Researchers of marine traffic or authorities responsible for route planning can use this platform as a tool to identify the high risk area of collision by examining the Closest Point of Approach (CPA) and the distribution of near-miss for further design of traffic separation or routeing to improve navigation safety.
