Reproductive biology of John Dory, Zeus faber off northeastern Taiwan / 台灣東北部海域日本的鯛生殖生物學研究

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 環境生物與漁業科學學系 / 97 / John Dory (Zeus faber) is one of the demersal fishes off northeastern Taiwan. In order to realize the reproductive features of this species. A total of 1,102 specimens (461 females and 641 males) from otter trawl were collected monthly between Jan. 2008 and Apr. 2009 in Dasi fishing port, Yilan. The relationship between body weight (BW; in g) and standard length (SL; in cm) showed that the Zeus faber were insignificant difference between females ( ) and males ( ) in this study. The test showed that the sex ratio of the specimens in 12~22 cm SL was significantly < 50%. The specimens more than 32 cm SL were almost females. The oocyte development could be divided into Chromatin-nucleolus stage, Peri-nucleolus stage, Yolk vesicle stage, yolk stage, Migratory nucleus stage, Ripe egg stage and Atretic oocytes stage by the histological examination and ovarian development measurements. We also found that the gonadosomtic index (GSI) more than 4 was mature stage. Zeus faber were asynchronous and multiple spawner and the spawning season was estimated to be form Oct. to May based on the histological examination of ovaries and GSI. Average length at 50﹪ sexual maturity was estimated to be 23.06 cm SL for females based on the relationship between proportion of maturity and standard length. The fecundity of this species was 269636~420890. The batch fecundity of this species was 162789~279406. The relationship between fecundity (F) and body weight (g) was F=374.13BW +25508 (n=27, r2 =0.62).
