碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 機械與機電工程學系 / 97 / A fresh water generator has been designed and manufactured to produce potable water by utilizing waste heat from a diesel engine. The main components are evaporator and condenser. Seawater absorbs energy from exhaust gas, and evaporates into steam. Subsequently it is cooled to distilled water. Since the operating pressure is at one atmospheric pressure, the evaporating temperature is slightly higher than 100℃, the generated water can be drunk directly.
The main topic of the project is to design and fabricate a fresh water generator, include piping lines of exhaust gas and seawater. The exhaust gas from a Yanma diesel generator was served as heat input to the test system. The drops in temperatures and pressures as well as water generating rates are measured at differing temperatures of exhaust gas. Finally, some typical fishery boats have been selected that measured in a former literature. According to the operating conditions during sailing such as the volume flow rate and the temperature of exhaust gas are available, thus the equivalent water producing rates can be estimated. This information provides the possibility in installation of fresh water generator in fishing boats.
