The Study on Strategic Alliance in Asian Liner Shipping – CNC Line Case / 區域型定期航商聯營策略之研究-以正利航業為例

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 商船學系所 / 97 / Strategic Alliance is a kind of competition policy adopted by many carriers in order to orientate circumstances change for the time being. Over many years of development, many theories have proved that strategic Alliance is the best way to broaden the scope of the liner services. It is extensively applicable in the shipping market.

Owing to the agitation of enlargement in ship size and merger in the shipping market, many long-haul carriers adjust vessels deployment and start operation in intra Asia according to the ships’ cascading affection, hence, many of regional carriers face the huge stresses in operation. Furthermore, in 2008, worldwide economic crisis is caused by American subprime mortgage problem, hence, all carriers confront extremely difficult challenges in the market.
Along with stiff competition advanced progressively in the world, how to strengthen itself advantage becomes a main concern in every industry. Asian routes’ character, short passage and fast turnover, which affect severe competition in shipping market. Based on the specialization, it’s a good topic for further study.

After gathering, generalizing and compiling the relative documents of container carriers in intra Asia, the study can state the current situation of shipping routes cooperation for shipping liners in Asia. This thesis discusses the evolution of strategic Alliance in shipping industry by reviewing the literatures. Furthermore, it also discovers the concern factors of strategic Alliances for regional carriers in order to provide useful reference to liner shipping industry by this thesis.
