An Off-shore Island Teacher’s Dream: The Journey of a Kindergarten Teacher Pursuing Subjectivity and Social Praxis / 離島教師的夢:一位幼教老師追尋自我主體與社會實踐的旅程

碩士 / 國立臺北教育大學 / 教育行政碩士在職進修專班 / 97 / The paper aimed at picturing an off-shore island teacher’s dream. It’s about the self narrating of a kindergarten teacher who had four-year teaching experiences. Through the study, I wish to retrospect my life and teaching stories on an off-shore island. From an off-shore kindergarten teacher’s eyesight, the study described the multiple dimensions among the off-shore island, my family, schooling experience, career and self. No matter the hardest hedge to stride across is family’s constraint, praise or dispraise from school teachers, and challenges of one’s workplace, everyone hopes to pursue the true happiness of life similarly.
Kindergarten teachers not only belong to a minority, but also locate in the peripheral area of off-shore culture of education. Therefore, I tried to find subjectivity with educational passion and self-awareness. My story is about the conflict and twist in off-shore kindergarten teachers’ life world, understanding the off-shore island society’s impact on kindergarten teachers, and finding the beginning point of subjectivity and social praxis. The off-shore society should not be a pressure of off-shore kindergarten teachers. Off-shore teachers can get their dreams via seeking out the social praxis. Seeking subjectivity is not my only aim. I hope I can make my teaching dream come true, touch pupils’ heart and enlighten their passion of life!
