碩士 / 國立高雄海洋科技大學 / 航運管理研究所 / 97 / In this research, historical data were collected to analyze the development of container ship route-deployment and the change of container carriers’ service network in the East Asia. Major Asian container ports nearby Taiwan are well analyzed. Development of cross Taiwan Strait direct shipping is discussed to analyze the main competitive advantages of Taiwanese controlled container carriers in the cross strait direct shipping business.
In the methodology section, the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), Gray Relational Analysis (GRA) and general statistics analysis technique are employed to design the questionnaire. Major survey results indicate the strongest competitive advantage can be very different from various stakeholders’ viewpoint. After the start of cross Taiwan-strait direct shipping, the revenue increasing is perceived to be the best competitive advantage from the academicians’ perspective. The operating cost reduction is perceived to be the strongest competitive advantage from both port authorities and shipping lines viewpoints.
