碩士 / 靜宜大學 / 青少年兒童福利研究所 / 97 / Child-rearing always is an important issue for all parents .For parents, it is not easy to deal with rearing of children. This kind of difficulties are more hard for foster parents who should play different role on their biological children and foster children. There is more challenges for foster parents when they rearing their own children and foster children on the same time.
The purpose of this study is to explore the difference for foster parents when they rearing their children and foster children. The researcher is try to find that the different rearing style when foster parents rearing their own children and foster children. Also, the researcher is try to figure out all the problems and possible factors which will affect foster parents doing their rearing work.
Quantitative and Qualitative study are adopt for collect data for this study. Four foster mothers were interviewed and the main findings are as follows:
Firstly, there are two main rearing styles for foster parents which were “authoritative” and “indulgent” approach.
The quantitative and qualitative research for this study show the same results for foster parents rearing styles. However, there is some different between foster parents when they rearing their biological children and foster children.
Secondly, there are four main factors which affect foster parents’ rearing styles. They are: “foster care factor”, “biological factors in children”, “foster children factor” and “family system” of the four major factors.
Thirdly, the possible factors which made the difference of foster parents rearing styles are “the impact of rearing experience” and “child-based thinking” made them be the same are “foster care factor” and “foster children factor”.
Fourth, researcher find foster parents’ rearing troubled and strategies between the biological children and foster children.
According to the results of the study, the research agency for future research and put forward relevant proposals.
