A study on Global Logistics Management and Cluster Effect in Notebook OEMs / 筆記型電腦代工廠全球運籌管理與群聚效應之研究

碩士 / 世新大學 / 資訊管理學研究所(含碩專班) / 97 / Notebook industry is one of the main advanced technology industries in Taiwan. Since China economic policy of notebook industry changed in 2000, Taiwan notebook industry has formed an industry cluster phenomenon in Suzho, Kunshan, and Shanghai. Globalization makes Taiwan notebook OEM/ODM company to face more severe competition than before. Otherwise, these companies ought to perform an excellent global supply chain management to overcome the challenge. However, the complicated structure of notebook industry supply chain also challenge the companies to plan and establish new base in Vietnam and construct the base with a brand new global logistic management.
The research focuses on the strategy plan and objective that case company applies while constructing Vietnam base. Through method of case study, the dissertation provides a whole viewpoint of how the case company practices the brand new global logistic management and the interaction among each factors. This paper will approach beneath four subjects: 1. research on current notebook industry environment; 2. how Taiwan notebook companies duplicate the experience of global logistic management to new base; 3. how the characteristic of notebook industry supply chain influences the strategy plan of new base global logistic management; and 4. how notebook industry forms the industry cluster phenomenon in initial stage.
Therefore, through this research, it is summarized as the following four contentions,
1. The experience of Global Logistics Management (GLM) expedites the new base establishment and also reduces the production risk.
2. The mechanism of relation and interaction with suppliers influences Vietnam new base construction of supply chain in initial stage.
3.Geographical territory、cost factor and government policy are the main stimulus to notebook industry cluster phenomenon.
4.Human resource、production technique transfer and supports from local government are the critical essence.
