A Study on the Vacuum Pump and Refrigeration System Applied On the Desalination / 真空泵浦及冷凍系統之海水淡化裝置研究

碩士 / 國立臺北科技大學 / 能源與冷凍空調工程系碩士班 / 97 / Due to the rapid economic development of different countries in the world as well as the fast increase and concentration of the world’s population, the demand of water is increasing in all countries of the world. Water is a substance essential to the survival of human beings and to all trades and professions. Without dinking water for one day, man cannot live on. Unfortunately, the world’s clear water resources are very limited. The issue of clear water resources has become a global problem. The water resources we live on mostly come from rainwater or underground water. However, in some islands or regions there is no clear water at all. When there is no rainfall, the problem of water shortage is extremely serious. People living in these places have to transport clear water from other places by vessels or deliver clear water through pipes. In fact, they can use recycled energy to produce clear water since this is one of the solutions of water shortage problem. Using recycled energy to produce clear water can decrease carbon dioxide emission and save energy, which are the measures meeting the current trend of the world. The study makes use of a refrigeration system with wind-driven vacuum pump to form a sea water purification device. The wind-driven vacuum pump can reduce the pressure inside the cavity to

be close to absolute vacuum. Therefore, a great deal of sea water can be evaporated under lower temperature. As the compressor of refrigeration system is driven by wind, the coolant is made to circulate in the system. The low temperature generated by evaporator can condense the vaporized water molecules to be ice, thus completing the purification process of sea water. The system can also be used to undergo recycling treatment of rainwater or waste water to be drinkable clean water. The greatest characteristic of this study is that all the resources adopted are recycled resources. Although the cost for the original establishment of the device is rather high, it is one of the water treatment ways worthy of making research and development in the long run.
After water purification for 40 minutes, the seawater with concentration 333,999g/20L is purified to be 52g, 54g and 55g respectively.
52g (specific gravity 0.9979), 54g (specific gravity 0.9982), 55g (specific gravity 0.9978)
