The purpose of this study was to compare the difference and the relationship between the energy expenditure and the kayak stroking of the kayak athletes during stroking with the kayak ergometer and gas analyzer. Eighteen male kayak athletes were participated in this study. We aparted them from two groups which were ten outstanding athletes and eight bigining athletes, each of all had accepted the energy expenditure and the kayak stroking for three times in this study.
Their mean of age, height, and weight were 21.87(±1.73) years old, 173.14(±5.52) cm, and 69.39(±8.07) kg respectively. Each athlete was accessed the performance of the kayak stroking and energy expenditure by the kayak ergometer and the gas analyzer for 120 seconds. The data of the stroking and the energy expenditure were collected by the kayak ergometer, tensiometer and the gas analyzer, and then transfered by the Biopac MP-150 and Cosmed Quark CPET. Besides, we used the Integral in Acqknowledge software to integrate the stroking waveform to physical impulse, and used the Cosmed Quark PET Ergo software to collect the energy expenditure dates into excel, then calculated the Pearson’s correlation coefficient and the One-Way ANOVA by SPSS10.0. Finally, the kinematics data were dealt with by making tables with excel.
The experimental results are as follows:firstly, it has significant differences between the beginning group and the outstanding group in the physical impulse parameter. The physical impulse performance in the outstanding group during the time course of 0~30secs, 31~60secs, 61~90secs, 91~120secs and the 0~120secs were obviously higher than the beginnning group, Secondly, it has significant differences between the beginning group and the outstanding group in the physical energy parameter in the physiological energy. The outstanding group has significant differences then the beginnning group in VO2, VO2/HR and EEM. The number were 31~60secs, 91~120secs and 0~120secs. Thirdly, the result revealed the correlation between the energy expenditure and the kayak stroking of the kayak athletes which indicate that the energy expenditure and the kayak stroking are the important factors for the performance of kayak stroking.
