The Inhibition Process in Heroin Addicts / 海洛因成癮者抑制歷程初探

碩士 / 國立中正大學 / 臨床心理學研究所 / 98 / The purpose of the present study was to investigate the inhibitory problem and attention shifting in heroin addicts, and tried to examine two different predictions simultaneously. According to incentive-sensitization theory (Robinson & Berridge, 1993), people with increasing severity of addiction get more inhibitory problems and attentional bias toward drug related cues. However, the ‘incentive-habit’ view of Di Chiara (2000) makes different predictions. Di Chiara suggests that attentional bias for drug cues will be more severe in the early stage of drug dependence, and will be attenuated when drug abusers get more dependence. On the other hand, there will be more inhibitory problem when people are more addicted to the drug. These theoretical views were evaluated by examining inhibitory problem and attention shifting in heroin addicts.
The research was based on the data collected from the 119 subjects using Go/no-go task in the Drug Abuser Treatment Center. Independent variables included reaction time, correct response rate, omission error, commission error, discrimination (d'') and decision bias (C). The results revealed that when facing heroin related pictures, heroin addicts needed more reaction time, had lower correct response rate and more commission errors, had more difficulties discriminating between targets and distracters (low d''). when facing neutral pictures, commission errors were significantly related to using frequency in smoking group. At the same time, response correct rate are significantly related to using frequency, omission errors are negatively related to using frequency in injection group. In the shifting situation, heroin addicts needed more reaction time, had lower response correct rate, had more omission errors and commission errors, and also had more difficulties discriminating between targets and distracters (low d''). The result partially supported ‘incentive-habit’ view.
