碩士 / 國立中正大學 / 台灣文學所 / 98 / This article explored traditional poetry around Chiayi county coastal area and belonged to the regional literature. With earlier exploration and development, rosperous economy, and beautiful prospect along Chiayi county coastal area, it always attracted the chant of the writers and poets; hence Chiayi county coastal area was also dubbed a land of rich culture. After collecting and organizing data, it was understood that there were many poets, poetry societies and plentiful traditional poetry during that period. Therefore the purpose of this article is not only to manifest the characteristic of literature of coastal area but also present predecessors’ works systematically to understand poets’ life story and scan the poets’ historical background and motivation.
The whole composition was divided into five chapters and the descriptions of each chapter as follows:
Chapter one was introduction of this article and carried motivation, purpose, range, method, dilemma and resolution of this research. Chapter two described development of Budai and Dongshih township. First it stated the administrative division of Budai and Dongshih township and explored the region of toponym and regional history. Second, it stated the influence of environmental change. Finally, it illustrated the development of culture and education. Chapter three focused on scenery and characteristic of coastal area and poets’ works associated with “harbor city”, fishery industry, and religions. Through viewing all relative data, chapter four analyzed fellowship network of poets further. Section three described geisha summarily, Tsai Yun, and it was expected that we could understand poets’ creation works and the outline of local literature development during that period. Chapter five summarized the research achievement, value and future perspective of this thesis.
