碩士 / 輔仁大學 / 跨文化研究所翻譯學碩士在職專班 / 98 / The concept of “source-text oriented” has prevailed in the translation field for centuries. However, this principle started to lose its dominance in the twentieth century. With the increasing demand in non-literary translations, functionalism arose in the mid-twentieth century. Accommodating to the fast-changing and purpose-driven society, functionalism provides a reader-center approach by connecting the pragmatism with the perspective of language function.
Offshore fund is an innovative product under the sweeping trend of wealth management business; its fact sheets focus on attracting target investors as much as functionalism on catering for target readers. This thesis first uses functionalism to examine the translation strategies applied for the marketing purpose of offshore fund, then it moves to conclude the preferred style of fact sheets in Taiwan market through case analysis.
